What does it cost?
Design fees depend on the total cost of your project. In a smaller project, design fees can be around 10% of your total cost. The bigger the project, the smaller the percentage of the overall cost. In a larger project, design fees can be as little as 2% to 4% of your total cost.
The best way to think of interior design costs is as a percentage of your project cost. This will provide a budget to start the conversation with. Of course it can vary depending on the complexity of the design, how efficiently decisions are made and how many rounds of revisions are required.
How long will it take?
Phase 1 - Initial consult - up to 2 hours (information gathering session)
Phase 2 - Conceptual Design and Preconstruction estimates - typically about 1-2 + months to create and gather estimates
Phase 3 - Detail Planning and designs - typically 1-2 + months refine the design and about 1 month to gather accurate construction quotes
Phase 4 - Build – most renovations take about 8-12 weeks depending on size and complexity. Note this timeline is based on selections finalized and product ordered and available prior to starting the renovations. New builds typically start at 9 months for construction and more complex and large homes take min 1 year +.
